Reviewed the book ‘Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with Hadoop’

Recently , just reviewed the book ‘Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with Hadoop‘ by Packt Publishing. The book covers step by step guidance the basics of hadoop components(pig, hive, flume, oozie, mapreduce,hbase, hdfs, ambari).

  • The book also provides a very concise overview on Sqoop connector , importing & exporting data from SQL to HDFS & vice versa.
  • Utilization of SSIS (SQL server Integration services) as ETL(extract, transform & Load tool).

  • SQL Server Analysis Services(SSAS) as composer of Data models.
  • Creating interactive dashboards with PowerPivot, PowerView (PowerBI) using Hadoop Hive data sets.

The book is must readable for professionals who are going to start a new POC , Project specification on Hadoop (on Linux)using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 as connector.
